"Everything has its place in nature..." Piers Warren in 101 Uses for Stinging Nettles
Welcome to Stinging Nettle Farm. Twenty years ago I innocently purchased and planted one potted common stringing nettle. It wasn't long before I had nettle in my garden, nettle in front of the doorway, and nettle under the child's slide. Every year I spent hours battling this out of control misunderstood "weed". Becoming wiser with age, I realized I needed to learn how to work with the plant, rather than against. We came to an understanding; my garden was off limits and the stinging nettle was welcome to the large open space beyond the fences. It took me a few years to fully appreciate this valuable plant growing in my backyard. Today, with much affection and respect, I accept the sting as I collect the young spring leaves to dry for a tea and/or tonic.
Hope you will continue to check in, to watch our progress with the many projects
on my long to-do-list.

I’m a single mom who did the whole continuum parenting thing, as well as homeschooled my daughter. Now she’s soon off to college, well equipped with life skills.
I see myself, within the next few years, making a radical change to a more simplistic lifestyle for a well balanced day of productive leisure time, study time, and the joy of working to create useful items with emphasis on possessing a new skill rather than a new object. The day may come when I hand it all over to another so I can build a small hobbit house and spend my hours becoming more in tuned with nature.

For now I’m still part of the majority, working part-time for another in order to pay the bills. Would love to bring it all home full-time and work on creating a handmade life.

I am happiest with my fingers in the dirt and walking barefoot.

I am entering my college years with the hope of becoming a small business owner and grassroots community organizer, working in my community to create a more sustainable world for future generations.

I have my flock of chickens and am currently interested in medicinal herbs.
